If your flight is cancelled, under EU laws you are entitled to compensation. What if it is only delayed?
Airlines may say that you are only entitled to ‘assistance’ (e.g. refreshments and advice), but the European Court has now interpreted the regulations (261/2004) to say that compensation is also due, if the delay in arriving at your destination (not departing) is at least 3 hours.
One of our staff recently had a long weekend in Madeira, but his return flight was delayed 8 hours due to a faulty aircraft. Easyjet have now agreed everyone in his party is entitled to 400 euros compensation each. It is worth claiming!
